Efri Haukadalsá

The renowned salmon river Haukadalsá flows out of the lake Haukadalsvatn.  Upstream of that lake is the Upper Haukadalsá  It is a popular trout river holding arctic char with an average catch of 500 trouts per year.  A few salmon are also caught every year but the water is better suited for the char, due to the low temperature.

A good self catering lodge is present.  Fishable part of the river is 11 kilometres. Two rods are allowed.  The trout fishing is best in the lower section but a better chance of catching a salmon in the upper pools.

The river is hired out to Trausti Viglundsson.  For information or permits, please call him in phone +354-860-7773.
